The High Road Classique 2019 is a Bordeaux-style blend made from 41% Merlot, 30% Cabernet Sauvignon, 15% Cabernet Franc, 8% Petit Verdot, and 6% Malbec. Sourced from select vineyards in Stellenbosch, where well-drained soils and a moderate climate contribute to the wine’s elegance and structure, grapes were hand-harvested and carefully sorted to ensure optimal ripeness before fermentation. After fermentation in stainless steel tanks, the wine underwent malolactic fermentation in barrel to enhance texture and complexity. The grape varieties were matured separately in 225-litre French oak barrels for about 12 months. Bottled at 14%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Wild bramble fruit and ripe prune aromas, layered with hints of dried herbs, toasted oak, and vanilla.
Palate: Smooth and fruit-driven, with vibrant blue and red fruit flavours. Fine-grained tannins provide structure, leading to a crisp, well-integrated profile with herbal and peppery nuances.
Finish: A beautiful lingering finish with refined tannins and subtle oak spice.
