The Garajeest Bruce Cabernet Franc 2019 is named after one of winemaker Callan Williams' favourite musicians, Bruce Springsteen. Crafted from grapes grown in the cool-climate Elgin Valley in South Africa’s Overberg region, where the unique terroir imparts freshness and complexity. The wine is 100% open-fermented to enhance its vibrant character, followed by 12 months of maturation in second-fill French oak barrels to integrate flavours and soften the tannins. Bottled at 15% ABV. (Bottle size: 750ml).

Nose: A captivating bouquet of dark red fruits, with cassis and plums taking centre stage. Subtle hints of spice and a touch of earthy complexity add depth to the aromatic profile.

Palate: Fruit-driven on entry, showcasing ripe plums and blackberries. The mid-palate reveals intriguing hints of black tea, adding a savoury element to the wine’s rich fruit character.

Finish: A well-integrated tannin structure provides a soft and supple texture, with lingering notes of juicy plums and a whisper of spiced earth on the finish.

One of 2017's "Young Guns of Wine" in South Africa, Zimbabwean-born Callan Williams swapped a career as a ballet dancer for an even bigger love for wine. After a stint as assistant winemaker at Iona, she set up on her own label called The Garajeest in 2014, with her debut 2015 vintages released in February 2017.
