Orbitofrontal Cortex 2021 is produced from a blend of Chenin Blanc (29.8%), Verdelho (25.4%), Clairette (23.4%), Grenache Blanc (9.4%), Marsanne (6%), Roussanne (5.8%) and Viognier (0.2%). Harvested from various vineyards in Firgrove, Swartland, Stellenbosch and Voor-Paardeberg, grapes were picked at optimal ripeness and cooled overnight to 4°C. The next morning the grapes were pressed as whole bunches with no additives. The juice underwent spontaneous fermentation in French oak (nothing new), clay pots and egg-shaped cement tanks. Deep winter the wine received sulphur, its only additive. 10 months on the lees, blended and bottled. 5,023 bottles were produced. Residual sugar: 2.1g/l. Bottled at 13%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Inviting stone fruit character with notes of peach and apricot. Whiffs wet stone minerality.

Palate: Lovely fresh fruit, peach and pear notes in particular. Mid-palate has a lovely texture and weight.

Finish: Refreshing acidity with a slightly waxy texture.
