DESCRIPTION

First released in 2016, this single barrel bourbon is produced by Koval distillery, one of the largest fully independent and woman-owned craft distilleries in the United States. Produced from a blend of 51% corn and 49% millet, both gluten-free and from organic farmers in the Chicago area. Matured in new American oak barrels from The Barrel Mill in Minnesota for up to 4 years. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at 47%. (Bottle size 500ml)

TASTING NOTES

Nose: Aromas of mango chutney and vanilla.

Palate: Rich flavours of sweet mango chutney and creamy vanilla.

Finish: A peppery and caramel-infused finish.

Founded in 2008 by husband-and-wife team, Dr Robert Birnecker and Dr Sonat Birnecker Hart, who left their academic careers to bring Robert's Austrian distilling heritage to America, Koval began as the first distillery to open in Chicago since Prohibition. Koval means 'smith' or 'blacksmith' in many Eastern European languages, however in Yiddish, it has the added meaning of someone who 'forges ahead.' Following a grain-to-bottle approach, all of Koval's spirits are certified organic and kosher.
