Launched in 2021 the Macallan 30yo Double Cask is the oldest Double Cask release to date. To create the Double Cask, Macallan sources its European oak from the green forests of northern Spain and southern France as well new oak from Ohio, Missouri, and Kentucky in the US. The woods are then shipped to southern Spain, where both types are hand crafted into casks and toasted over an open-air fire in the cooperages of Jerez before being filled with the finest sherry wine and left to season for up to 18 months. Once seasoned, the casks travel to The Macallan Estate in Speyside where they are filled with new-make spirit and matured for 30 years in a combination of these sherry-seasoned American and European oak casks. Naturally coloured and bottled at 43%. (Bottle size 750ml)
