The Oldenburg Vineyards Series is a true expression of terroir through a range of single cultivar wines and the confluence of the 8 natural elements that determine the unique terroir is explored through these wines. The 8 elements are depicted on the intricate Oldenburg Vineyards Series label design. Grapes for the Syrah 2017 were harvested on 2 March 2017 at 24.4° Balling. Sorted carefully by hand, and cold-soaked for three days before fermentation was initiated. Pump overs were performed up to three times daily. Malolactic conversion was completed in barrel. Wines were matured for 14 months in 300-litre French oak barrels in 40% new oak. 14,435 bottles were produced. Residual sugar: 2.4g/l. Bottled at 14%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: A heady and complex bouquet featuring aromas of cocoa, dark chocolate, rhubarb, and cardamom, intertwined with tobacco leaf and a subtle hint of violets. Underlying notes of ripe black cherry and mulberry add fruit-forward depth.

Palate: The palate is richly textured and showcases a plethora of savoury characteristics, including pine nuts, coffee beans, and a touch of white pepper. These are seamlessly balanced with flavours of juicy blackberries, plum, and red currants.

Finish: A long, lingering finish, marked by layers of dark fruit, spice, fine-grained tannins and a delicate smokiness. Exceptional wood integration reveals waves of vanilla, sandalwood, and cedar, enhancing the wine's luxurious profile.
