Painted Wolf Lightning Sauvignon Blanc 2021 is produced from 88% Sauvignon Blanc and 12% Semillon cultivars. The Sauvignon Blanc grapes came from the Vaalvlei and Stonefields vineyards in Stanford, which are close to the ocean and have decomposed granite soil. The Semillon is from La Vierge in the Hemel-en-Aarde Valley. The Sauvignon Blanc was settled and fermented in a mixture of eggs, old wood and stainless steel. Semillon was fermented in stainless and spent 6 months on lees in an egg. 10% of the wine is made up from Lightning 2020 which spent 18 months on lees in barrel. This is an elegant, layered Sauvignon Blanc, reminiscent of a dry white Bordeaux. A sophisticated, rich wine with layers of citrus, straw and minerality, herbal notes and a hint of creamy vanilla. 6,500 bottles were produced. Bottled at 13%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Gooseberries, lime, hay and flinty wet stone minerality.

Palate: Lemon and lime on entry. A subtle waxy savoury and herbaceous mid-palate.

Finish: Refreshing flinty minerality.
