The Roussanne white grape, native to the warmer regions of France’s Rhone valley, is a relative newcomer and still very rare in SA, with fewer than 10 local producers. Grapes for this release were sourced from a vineyard grown by Willy Mostert on the south-eastern side of the Paardeberg, planted on decomposed granite soils. Grapes were hand-harvested riper than usual, whole-bunch pressed and fermented slowly with natural yeast. The wine spent 8 months in a 500-litre barrel, with daily stirring of the lees. 2,900 bottles were produced. Bottled at 14%. (Bottle size 750ml)
