Grapes for the Scions of Sinai Gramadoelas 2022 were sourced from a Grenache Blanc single vineyard planted in 2009 on schist and shale derived soils of the Klein Karoo. Situated far away from normal viticultural zones and in the middle of nowhere, the site was referred to as the Gramadoelas, meaning a remote place. Grapes were hand-harvested in lug boxes at the break of dawn, destemmed and left to soak on their skins for 20 hours prior to pressing. No additions or manipulations of the pure grapes, except carefully judged SO2. Aged on its fine lees for 9 months in older 228-litre and 400-litre barrels. 1,623 bottles were produced. Bottled unfiltered and unfined at 12.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)
