DESCRIPTION

Released in 2022, a single malt release from South African based independent bottler The Inventer. Distilled at the James Sedgwick distillery, matured for 5 years in third-fill ex-bourbon casks and finished for 4 years in a single ex-Oloroso sherry cask before bottling. Only 600 bottles were produced, each individually numbered. Non-chillfiltered and bottled at 51.6%. (Bottle size 750ml)

OFFICIAL TASTING NOTES

Nose: Sweet sherry, roasted nuttiness and dark chocolate.

Palate: Intense fruit and dark chocolate balanced with oak.

Finish: Smooth, with a long sherry, nutty finish.

The Inventer is the legacy of Johan Venter, an icon in South Africa's brandy industry. After retiring from Distell in 2019, where he was the chief of its Centre of Excellence: Intrinsics, Johan spent time in Scotland refining blends and developing new products for three international whisky distilleries owned by Distell, namely Tobermory, Deanston and Bunnahabhain. The Inventer reflects Johan's personal hand and ingenuity, creating spirits that are uniquely South African.
