Stefan Van Eycken grew up in Belgium and Scotland and moved to Japan in 2000. He was the chief editor of Nonjatta, the foremost online resource on Japanese whisky, until its discontinuation in 2016. He is regional editor (Japan) for Whisky Magazine UK and regularly contributes to a variety of whisky-related publications in English, French and Japanese. He is responsible for the annual updates to the Japanese section of the Malt Whisky Yearbook and has been on the Japanese panel of the World Whiskies Awards since 2012. His book ‘Whisky Rising’ is considered the reference for all things Japanese whisky.
