A limited-edition Japanese single cask, single malt release from the famed Chichibu distillery, bottled by Adelphi independent bottlers. Distilled at Chichibu in 2013, matured in a single cask and bottled by Adelphi in 2023. Only 210 bottles were produced. Bottled at 57.8%.
Owned by Venture Whisky, Chichibu is a small distillery located in Chichibu, a city in Japan’s Saitama Prefecture, about 100 kilometres from Tokyo. Founded in 2004, it was the first new Japanese distillery since the 1970's. Production began in 2008 under the watchful eye of Ichiro Akuto, distillery owner, manager and Master Distiller who is also the grandson of the founder of the now-closed Hanyu distillery. A portion of the barley Chichibu uses is grown locally, and they use a wide selection of cask styles to mature the whisky. Chichibu is a very hands-on distillery with very small production, and their limited releases are much sought after around the world.
