Grapes for the Tumbaga Chenin Blanc 2020 were harvested mid-February at a minimum of 25° Balling. Harvested early in the cool morning air common in Paarl, the grapes are softly crushed and de-stemmed and given 2 hours skin contact for extraction of fruity flavours from the grape. Free-run juice was used for this wine, which was left overnight in a stainless steel tank to settle, only clear juice is used for fermentation. Fermentation occurs in stainless steel tanks, which ensures that all the primary flavours are well infused with the wine. The wine was aged on the lees for three months in stainless steel tanks with only 20% of the final volumes aged in 2nd-fill French barrels and the rest in tanks. 5,000 bottles were produced. Residual sugar: 2.5 g/l. Bottled at 13%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Beautiful inviting tropical fruit flavours of peach, apricot and pineapple. With subtle floral hints of orange blossom.
Palate: Fresh fruit on entry with notes of litchi and peach. Beautiful palate weight, rich and well textured.
Finish: Balanced acidity with lingering notes of honey and apricot.
