Part of Diageo's Special Releases for 2024, Spirited Xchange Second Edition, a collection said to be an exploration of the uncharted territories of taste, produced under the guidance of master blender Dr Stuart Morrison. Coastal Orchard is a single malt from the Talisker distillery on the Isly of Skye, matured for 8 years in casks that have been polished by rocks and water, then lightly re-toasted. Bottled at a natural cask strength of 58.7%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: Fresh, faintly maritime, with sea breezes, rockpools and oyster shells, on an earthy, mineral base with a hint of sphagnum moss.
Palate: Mouth-filling and creamy in texture, with abundant peppery spice. Lightly drying overall, with a hint of apple and pear.
Finish: Develops plenty of Talisker spiciness, with a Sichuan-pepper mouth-cooling effect in the aftertaste.
