More from Irish Whiskey
This release is a WhiskyBrother exclusive; selected by our team, bottled for us, and not available anywhere else in the world.
An official, single cask release from McConnell's Irish whiskey. Distilled in November 2003, matured in a first-fill ex-bourbon cask for 18 years until February 2002, then finished in a first-fill Tawny port cask for just over two years until being bottled in May 2024. Only 228 bottles were produced. Non-chillfiltered, naturally coloured and bottled at a cask strength of 51.2%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: A subtle yet intriguing nose of freshly chopped mint leaves and a hint of litchi.
Palate: Full bodied with a creamy mouthfeel. Wonderfully sweet with ripe strawberries, peaches and mango. White pepper leads to a hint of oak.
Finish: Tongue tingling, rich and exotic with the ripe fruit elements from the palate lasting seemingly forever, and enticing one for another sip.
This is our first Irish whiskey exclusive, which seems a little crazy that it took us so long considering it is our 95 whisky release, from 7 different countries (Scotch, English, American, Taiwanese, Israeli, Sweden and South African)!
The McConnell's distillery only started production this year (2024), so until they have more mature stock, the brand is relying on whisky sourced from older and more established distilleries -a very common trend in Ireland- including this two-decade old single malt. (Although contractually we cannot name the distillery, we can say it is based in north Ireland and reputed to be the oldest in the country!)
