La Brune The Valley Pinot Noir 2024 is crafted from 100% Pinot Noir grapes sourced from select vineyards in the Elgin Valley, a region where a cool climate and diverse soils impart finesse and complexity. This wine is made using five different Dijon clones, each contributing unique textures and flavour profiles.The grapes were gently destemmed, with 20% retained as whole clusters, and underwent a 10-day cold soak before fermentation in small, 1-ton fermenters. Extraction was meticulously managed through twice-daily punchdowns, a hands-on process requiring winemaker Nico Grobler to climb into the fermenter for precision and control. Spontaneous fermentation was followed by 9 months of aging in Burgundian oak barrels of varying sizes (228L, 300L, and 500L), with a composition of 5% new oak and 95% second- to fifth-fill barrels. Bottled at 13.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Layers of boysenberry, blueberry, and black tea are complemented by earthy forest floor nuances.

Palate: A structured profile featuring vibrant notes of ripe cherries, cranberries, and juicy blueberries, adding depth and balance.

Finish: The wine concludes with an elegant, chalky minerality, supported by soft, fine-grained tannins and a delicate hint of dried herbs.
