Gustave Lorentz Crémant d'Alsace Brut is a sparkling wine crafted from a blend of equal parts Chardonnay, Pinot Noir, and Pinot Blanc. Grapes, picked healthy and whole without any trace of rot, are carefully set down in the press, following rules identical to the "Méthode Champenoise." The first fermentation, known as "Vin de Base," takes place in tanks while the second fermentation, called "Prise de Mousse," occurs in the bottle itself in cool cellars. This natural phenomenon requires careful and patient attention to each bottle. The wine is aged "Sur lattes" for 3 to 4 years. During this period, the bottles are rotated gradually from a horizontal to a vertical position to allow the yeast deposit to accumulate in the neck of the bottle. At the time of disgorgement, the neck of the bottle is frozen, and the sediment is ejected by natural pressure. The bottle is then corked and wired. Residual sugar: 7.27g/l. Bottled at 12%. (Bottle size 750ml)

Nose: Fresh and vibrant, with aromas of green apple, pear, and citrus, underscored by subtle floral and yeasty notes.

Palate: Lively and crisp, offering a fine mousse and flavours of white peach, lemon zest, and brioche. A touch of minerality adds depth and elegance.

Finish: Clean and refreshing, with lingering notes of lemon and apricot. The balanced acidity and a delicate touch of residual sugar provide a harmonious conclusion.

The Lorentz family has been making wine since 1836. The current management, led by Georges Lorentz, is the sixth generation of the family firm, headquartered in the medieval village of Bergheim, in the Haut-Rhin. As far back as anyone can recall, the grapes harvested from this extraordinary terroir have been vinified separately. Thus, Riesling, Pinot-Gris, Gewurztraminer and other Muscat varieties from the Altenberg de Bergheim vineyards unerringly express their unique qualities in these wines year-to-year. The family is very proud that the wines are “gastronomic”, meaning fresh, clean, well-balanced and mostly dry – great matches for many of the cuisines from the more than 55 countries where the wines are sold. As they have down through the generations, the Lorentz family hues to tradition while also employing state-of-the-art vinification techniques and equipment. Gustave Lorentz was among the first producers in Alsace to use stelvin (screw-cap) closures. In 2012 the Gustave Lorentz vineyards became certified organic by Ecocert.
