Le Chant Rouge 2020 is produced from a blend of 42% Merlot, 24% Cabernet Sauvignon, 20% Cabernet Franc, 5% Shiraz, 4% Sangiovese, 3% Malbec and 2% Petit Verdot, all from the Polkadraai Hills in Stellenbosch. Grapes are hand-picked and transferred to the cellar. Following fermentation and subsequent maceration, the wine is blended and transferred to a combination of French barrels, Foudre, and cement tanks. After aging for a total period of 24 months, a final blend is crafted and bottled. The wine is then released after a resting period of 6 months. Residual Sugar: 2.65g/l. Bottled at 13.5%. (Bottle size 750ml)
Nose: An enticing aromatic entrance unfolds with fresh floral notes intertwined with subtle red berry nuances - think blackcurrant and blueberry - while a gentle spice emerges as the wine opens up, hinting at its layered complexity.
Palate: On the palate, this Merlot‐dominated blend reveals a harmonious dance of ripe red fruits - lush cherry and soft berry tones - complemented by whispers of warm spice and a cool, mentholated nuance. The texture is refined and supple, delivering both vibrancy and finesse.
Finish: The finish is long and precisely crafted, where a refreshing burst of bright acidity meets delicately integrated, light tannins that lend structure and a hint of spice. This well-balanced conclusion leaves a lingering impression
